Mountaineering & summit victories
Have you ever stood on the roof of Austria? For many, climbing the 3,798 m high Großglockner is one of THE alpine highlights par excellence. Good news: Heiligenblut is not only called "am Großglockner", it is also an ideal starting point for climbing it. Ask Klaus Brandstätter, he knows every stone on the way up to the highest mountain in the country and is sure to have good tips for you.
The wild waters
The water falls as snow in the high mountains and covers rock and stone as eternal ice. When the sun gains strength in spring, the snow melts and the wild water begins its journey down into the valley. In the process, it forms gorges, ravines, streams and waterfalls that you should experience while canyoning, along via ferratas or on a leisurely gorge hike. I bet you'll be amazed.
Grossglockner Mountain Run & Trail Running
Against the clock all the way to the top. Once a year, the trail running world looks to Heiligenblut am Großglockner when the world's elite compete for seconds at the Großglockner mountain running event. The rest of the year, Heiligenblut is a paradise for mountain runners and the two permanent timed courses provide information about your training status and stamina. Or you can take your time and simply enjoy the scenery.
